What do you guys prefer? Two speed, Three speed, manual?

Also what's better on the street?

Since my car is pretty heavy I am going with the turbo to start with. Once I see the final weight maybe I will be able to switch to a glide.

You might be surprised how well a glide would work in your car...tall first gear might help it hook up (of course I was thinking of your car before you fat tired it) but the other item is the less rotating mass of the glide.....I knew a guy running an old malibu wagon with a 307 in it that picked up 4 - 5 tenths in the 1/8th going from a turbo 350 to the glide....and that car you would have thought would be the worst case scenario for using a glide.

I'll go check on the numbers to be exact (I've got his e-mail around here somewhere) but I'm talking a couple of tenths, and that was on a 9.30 - 9.40 1/8th mile car down into the high 8's by going to the glide...

chris with your power to weight you should see an increase in et and without a doubt you should be more consistant

the glide works perfect in my car mainly because of the tire size. I still miss the pull of a 3spd though. Also like in Chris'es case you have to look at the weight of the car plus the power your biulding and what you want to spend in Chris's case he would have a LOT of $$$ in that trans to make it stout enough to stay in that car for any length of time and I'm sure the poeple in the grandstands would not like to see another driveshaft coming to visit them in the stands again. I talked to Neil Chance about Chris's car he said he could build one for it but I dont think it had any stock part init including the case so I'd stick with the old 400 in Chris's car plus it will hold with those big ole meats you got.

I could change my mind but still leaning on the turbo for now, but might go to  glide once I see the final weight of my car.

I am building it this way so I can try both. Don't want to have to rebuild everytime I change one part.

I think this definately depends on the driver and what you want.
For a Street/Strip car (mostly street) I like a 3 speed.
For racing only, it seems a PG is much more consistant.
But in my case, I'll stick w/ a turbo 350 for the Super Nova.

btw, what do you guys think about air shifters?

IHRA YOU CAN RUN AN AIR/ELECTRIC SHIFTER IN MOD (PRO) BUT FOR RELIABILITY I WOULD USE AN ELECTRIC SOLENOID SHIFTER THEY ARE WAY LESS OF A HASSLE WITH HAVING TO FILL CO2 BOTTLES AND CRAP AIR IS WAY TO MUCH MAINTENANCE FOR ME
