ok ive got a question, ive got a 12 bolt im sending off to get done up and i cant decide if i want just a posi, a mini spool, or a full spool. im leaning more towards the full spool cuz it wont be the daily anymore, but wut is the difference in a mini spool and a full spool i think its something to do with the c-clip elimination or something. run me down on each option if you guys know thanx

A spool replaces the whole carrier (the ring gear bolts to it). A mini spool uses your carier and replaces the spider gears in it conecting the two axles together. The full spool is the only way to go - especially if it's for off-road use. Don't even consider the mini-spool. If you are going to drive it on the street equal to or more than the track go with the posi. If you run the spool on the street then its only a matter of time before you break something not to mention wearing out tires and your truck feeling like its hopping and corners. If you are going to run the spool you better get the best aftermarket axles you can find now and get it over with. C clip eleminators are a good Idea not matter what you go with (but not a have to have thing). I REALLY think you'll be happier with a posi. It'll will get you off the line real well and better nicer to you truck on the street. As a matter of fact Chris ran a posi in his the whole time until this rebiuld. I have a spool in my car and I hate it when I'm on the street and good thing its not a ford cause its a bitch to push it with that spool in it. BTW you is biulding the rearend for you?

I agree with rob. I would go with a Posi. If you are going to run a spool you will have to run aftermarkets axles or you will break one in no time.

Hard to beat a Posi.

What size tire are you planning on running when finished?

Also what rpm is the redline of your motor?

You could probably go with a 4.11 gear instead of a 3.73 I wouldn't go any lower though as you would hit your redline.

I think I would look for a posi unit for it. Spools are just a pain.

Just do like I used to do every few weekends. I would trailer it to mangum and unload 2 miles outside of town. Race 3 or 4 guys and load up.

And tell eveyone how tough a drive it is  =)
